The Combat Arms Seaview Regatta (CASR) marked its tenth year in its combined style this season, bringing together over 80 competitors across 26 teams from two of the Armys distinguished military yacht clubs: the Infantry Yacht Club and the Royal Armoured Corps Yacht Club (Cavalry).

In early years, each club hosted its own annual regattas—the Infantry in mid-summer and the Royal Armoured Corps in September. But over the past decade, a joint effort has blossomed into the CASR, This years regatta coincided with the Cavalry Memorial Parade (Cav Mem), contributing to record participation numbers and renewed enthusiasm.

Led by Commodore Will Hodgkinson and Commodore James Birch, the regatta reflects a long-standing and colourful relationship between the British Army and Seaview. Many participants have personal or family ties to the area, reinforcing a strong local connection.

Colonel Singer, the Principal Race Officer and a long-time figure in the regatta—whose history dates back to 1946—emphasised that while CASR is a vital opportunity for service personnel to enjoy sport, team-build, and develop personally and professionally, it also serves as a powerful reminder of their core duty. During this year's event, one officer and three soldiers were called away for immediate deployment to Ukraine, underlining the ever-ready nature of the British Armed Forces and the reality of their service, even in moments of camaraderie and competition.

One of the regattas key ambitions is to broaden access to sailing across the ranks. While sailing has often been seen as the preserve of officers, CASR actively engages soldiers, offering a couple of days away from the routine of military life. The atmosphere is spirited and inclusive—with healthy banter on the water and a warm welcome for both newcomers and returning crews.

Evenings saw formal dinners and drinks parties, providing junior officers the chance to experience military tradition in a different setting. More than just sport, the event embodies the ethos of Army sport: creating a will to win, forging strong team bonds, and pushing individuals slightly beyond their comfort zone in a safe but testing environment.

The Club gives thanks to the Organising Committee including Jamie Mossop and Freddie Strachan, for delivering another successful and memorable year. Congratulations to all competitors—and especially to this years winners prize winners!
