North Sails Cowes Week 2026

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Cowes Week Regatta, there was more happening in Cowes than ever before.

The Seaview Mermaid fleet was challenged by a wide variety of conditions, but the Corinthian spirit remained high throughout. The race team did a fantastic job of showing us both the eastern and western Solent, with two days of Gurnard beats thrown in to spice things up—as usual!

There was some spectacular—and entirely appropriate—shouting for water as we sought to avoid the shingle beach, along with the occasional encounter with rocks and marker posts. Nothing new for our experienced sailors! Sadly, Wednesdays racing was abandoned as the wind increased. It gave us a chance to catch our breath, although missing a day on the water was still very disappointing.

The social side of Cowes Week is equally important, and we enjoyed post-racing drinks at RORC, RTYC, RYS and Shepherds Marina. On Wednesday evening, we returned to Seaview for a special SVYC Regatta Dinner, where the weeks adventures on the water could be properly discussed. The welcome return of the Cowes Week fireworks rounded off a spectacular week on Friday evening.

Huge thanks to everyone who supported us, both on and off the water—in particular, our boatmen, who retrieved spinnaker halyards, managed RIBs, swam beneath keels and replaced poles, always with a smile!

Overall, it was a tremendous event. Huge congratulations go to Anthony Eaton in Sirena, who was the clear winner. In second place was Barnaby Cotterell in Cynthia, who also deserves great applause for an exceptional performance as our under-25 entrant.

Watch out—the young are coming!

Roll on Cowes Week 2027. The draw will take place at Easter 2027.
