Two superb days of Mermaid racing delivered very different challenges, but equally memorable sailing.
Delicious sailing conditions greeted two full heats of Mermaid sailors on Saturday 18th July, all out to compete for the prestigious Jade Cup. Final places were hotly contested, with Raymond winning the first heat and Anthony E. taking line honours in the second. Swallow National Championships Return to Sea View Yacht Club
Sea View Yacht Club was delighted to welcome the Swallow Class National Championships on 4th and 5th July, marking the class's long-awaited return to Seaview after almost three decades. Fourteen Swallows made the traditional passage from Itchenor on Friday afternoon to compete in the opening passage race to the Isle of Wight. Cowes Classic A big success despite Saturdays abandonment
The Club entered 7 Mermaids into Cowes Classic week this year, starting with a Passage race on the Friday, merely an hour after the Charterers had cleared the deck. Alas Saturdays conditions meant that all racing was abandoned by the race committee (rightfully so with 38 knots blowing up the Solent) meaning Sundays results became critical.
