The Prince Philip Cup

Today we received permission from Her Majesty The Queen to retain the name the Prince Philip Cup for the annual Inter Club Regatta that we host in our Mermaids. The Prince Philip Cup was presented by Prince Philip in 1956 as a contest to encourage sailing and social contact between Island Clubs. First Team Racing of the Year

Sunday 8 th   May saw SVYCs annual team race against The Bar (think legal eagles, not G&T) in beautiful champagne-sailing conditions. Multiple back to back races, with both sides fielding 2 teams of three boats.   The Bar started well winning the initial race, demonstrating that they had some excellent helms in their team this year (some of whom it turned out, were international sailors).   More »

Martin Evans talk on Foiling

The lack of wind did not dampen the excitement on Saturday of a large group of members who had come to watch a Foiling demonstration that couldn't happen. Seaview short tacking but into Fiji

We cannot resist sharing again a screenshot of Sarah Hill's route into Fiji. After a 2000nm passage against the trade winds from Australia, Sarah and her husband arrived in Fiji on their Dufour 35 with failed engine.
