Scuttle Wins the Denis Carritt Challenge Trophy
Congratulations to Jack Sandiford Haigh, John Demaine and James Hill, who won the Denis Carritt Challenge Trophy aboard Scuttle in Mondays Cowes Week racing. The trophy was presented in 1984 by Denis Carritt, a member of SVYC from 1923-1991 and the Royal London Yacht Club from 1983-1990. It is awarded to the winner of the Monday race at Cowes Week. Visiting Entries welcome for the three annual SVYC Open Regattas
Seaview hosts a variety of open events throughout August, where we warmly welcome entries from visiting clubs. This year they are the Opi/Tera open (Saturday 8th August), the well-attended ILCA Grand Prix (Sunday 9th August) along with the annual Club Regatta (Sunday 16th / Monday 17th August) with starts for all dinghy classes and a variety of keelboat classes. Two superb days of Mermaid racing delivered very different challenges, but equally memorable sailing.
Delicious sailing conditions greeted two full heats of Mermaid sailors on Saturday 18th July, all out to compete for the prestigious Jade Cup. Final places were hotly contested, with Raymond winning the first heat and Anthony E. taking line honours in the second. Swallow National Championships Return to Sea View Yacht Club
Sea View Yacht Club was delighted to welcome the Swallow Class National Championships on 4th and 5th July, marking the class's long-awaited return to Seaview after almost three decades. Fourteen Swallows made the traditional passage from Itchenor on Friday afternoon to compete in the opening passage race to the Isle of Wight.
