Golf Activities

Many members of the Club are keen golfers, and several of them are members of one of the local Island golf clubs. The Club therefore organises several competitions during the year which provide the opportunity for members to play on some of the local courses and to mix with other golf-playing members

Competitions have been held at Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club (18 holes), Osborne Golf Club (9 holes) and Freshwater Bay Golf Club (18 holes) to coincide with the Fitting Out and Laying Up suppers, but also at other times of year when members who do not live locally are likely to be on the Island, such as Easter and New Year. In addition, a number of competitions have been organised at mainland golf clubs. There will usually be an option to play 9 or 18 holes, and a small fee is added to the green fee to cover the cost of prizes. Members without an official handicap are welcome, as are the guests of members.

The Club maintains a list of golf playing members who receive direct notice by e-mail of forthcoming competitions. If you wish to be added to this list please let Michele know. Information about forthcoming competitions will also be included in the Club's regular newsletters, and also on the Club's golf Whats App group, which can also be used by members wishing to find playing partners for a casual round on one of the local courses.
