Sea View Yacht Club Celebrates 50 Years of Chartered Surveyors' Charter

Last week marked a golden milestone at Sea View Yacht Club, as the 50th anniversary of the Chartered Surveyors Charter was celebrated with the usual mix of friendly rivalry, champagne sailing—and a fair bit of just champagne.
The two-day regatta, which has become a much-loved fixture in the clubs calendar, saw 11 teams from leading property and surveying firms descend on Seaview. Notable entrants this year included TRITAX/SG (fielding both an Alpha Team and Dream Team), IPIF (LGIM), Hollis, Knight Frank, Clearbell, and the Clews/Churchmanor All Stars.
Day one delivered glorious Solent conditions, perfect for spirited racing. Day two, however, was less kind on the wind front—resulting in an afternoon of sun-soaked socialising ashore instead of sailing and a spot of coastal hopping to enjoy Priory Bay
The 50th anniversary brought an extra layer of significance for one sailor in particular. Martin Clews, affectionately known across the fleet as Beastie, was honoured for having competed in every single regatta since its inception. In recognition of his incredible five-decade commitment, he was presented with a custom Half Mermaid Model. The tribute read:
Martin Clews Beastie
Celebrating 50 Years on the Solent
With heartfelt thanks for your humour, spirit, sailing guile, and legendary leadership of our tribe through five decades of the Seaview Chartered Surveyors Regatta.
An impossible act to follow.
With laughter, applause, dancing, bagpipes, chants and no shortage of toasts, the event proved that while conditions may vary, the spirit of the Seaview Chartered Surveyors Regatta remains as buoyant as ever.
