We are pleased to announce that bookings are now open for a special Bridge Masterclass Day at Sea View Yacht Club, led by one of the games foremost players and teachers, Andrew Robson.
The event will take place on Tuesday 20 October in the Mermaid Room, with arrival from 09:30 and play commencing at 10:00. Capacity is limited to 60 players (15 tables), and tickets are priced at £55 per person. A proportion of proceeds will be donated to a local charity supporting primary literacy on the Island.
This masterclass is designed for players looking to sharpen their judgement and elevate their overall performance at the table. Throughout the day, Andrew will guide participants through a series of carefully constructed instructional deals, focusing on practical decision-making, clear thinking, and the key situations that regularly influence results in competitive play. The session is suitable for a broad range of experience levels, although it is not aimed at beginners, and no partner is required.
Andrew Robson is widely regarded as one of the leading bridge players in the world. A former World Junior Champion and European Champion, he has been a long-standing member of the England team. He is also well known for his daily bridge column in The Times and his extensive published work. His teaching style is clear, engaging, and grounded in real play, offering a rare opportunity to learn directly from a top-level expert.
The day will include morning and afternoon teaching sessions, featuring structured hands with expert commentary, as well as opportunities for questions and discussion throughout. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival.
A light two-course lunch is included. Guests will have a choice between roast chicken with tarragon and grain mustard cream, served with new potatoes and seasonal greens, or a wild mushroom and spinach tart with dressed leaves and parmesan. Dessert will be either lemon posset with shortbread or a seasonal fruit plate.
Places are limited and demand is expected to be high. Early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment. Click the event link below to book!
