This Commodore's trophy is awarded for the best boating activities outside Seaview by a Club member or a member of staff.

This year's winner is Sarah Hill. Since 2018 Sarah, one of the few female Ocean Yachtmasters, has sailed 20,000nm including crossing the Pacific from Panama to French Polynesia via the Galapagos and Pitcairn.

Last year, during Covid, Sarah sailed double handed with her husband Mike from Australia to Fiji, a tough 2000nm passage against the trade winds to get their Dufour 35 back into the Pacific. Covid restrictions meant stopping enroute in New Caledonia was not an option.  They faced multiple challenges, including winds over 50 knots and an engine failure.  When arriving in Fiji, Sarah had to short tack through the reef using skills learnt long ago in Optimists and Seaview Dinghies - see her route below.

Sarah and her husband Mike plan to return to Fiji shortly with their newest crew member baby Elsie to continue their circumnavigation.
