We did it! Last week Wightlink announced evening FastCat sailings will return from March 27. Described as a 'summer timetable', the FastCat will run from Portsmouth at 2120 and 2245, and from Ryde at 2200 and 2310 - hugely helping Island foot passengers link with the mainland. The operator also announced the return of the hourly daytime service - plugging the unpopular mid-morning and mid-afternoon gaps in the timetable. As you know, more than 5,500 people signed the petition - launched via this newsletter - and shared it so widely that it spread like wildfire. This victory was indeed a group effort as Bob Seely MP had been putting considerable pressure on Wightlink for months, as had council members and many other campaigners via letter-writing and social media. I've received so many messages explaining what a difference this will make to commuting, visiting family, hospital treatment and so much more… A huge thank you to everyone for signing, sharing and supporting. Let's hope the changes are here for good and not just for the summer season.
