First presented by HRH Prince Philip in 1956, the Prince Philip's Cup was created to bring clubs together through competitive sailing and strong social connection. 70 years on, it remains a standout fixture in the racing calendar.
The Format
- 13 invited Yacht & Sailing Clubs
- 13 identical Sea View Mermaid yachts
- 6-race series to decide the winner
- Team format: 3 sailors per club
Each club competes on equal terms in the renowned SVYC Mermaid fleet—a true test of skill, teamwork, and tactical racing.

Entry Criteria
- Open to Yacht/Sailing Clubs actively organising racing on the Solent (Island or Mainland)
- Helms must be members of the club they represent
- Teams of three, with shared helming responsibilities across the series
