Over the last week, the Mermaid room at the Sea View Yacht Club has been the collection and sorting centre for donations for Catherine Kane's heroic effort to help the people of Ukraine. MAD-aid today collected from the Yacht Club around 30 boxes of clothes, toiletries and blankets etc. and will be taking them early next week to various locations in several countries bordering Ukraine to where the people of Ukraine have fled.
Since 24th February, MAD-Aid has mobilised and coordinated community volunteers and donors to collect and send container-loads of emergency aid from the UK to Moldova. Seaview's donations will be in the sixth truck, leaving this week.
On the ground in northern Moldova, the Phoenix Complex staff and volunteers directly help refugees plus support other organisations housing women and children who left their lives behind to seek safety.
