After the inactivity of last week's Shakedown races it was great that the weather decided to be more reasonable. Wednesday's race had all the vital ingredient's that the midweeker's have come to expect: plenty of wind, lots of water over the foredeck and long beats. After a couple of visits to Somers and much tacking, Noel Dobbs was a comfortable winner. Thursday saw slightly less wind which was slowly decreasing over the race. It was back to Somers again, but this time they could use the new spinnakers. This race was much closer and Jenny Boswell crossed the line ahead of Jamie Nimmo. There was a good turnout with 11 boats on Wednesday and 9 boats on Thursday – a good start to the Sunset Series.

The weekend Mermaid season kicked off over the first May bank holiday with healthy turnouts despite the weather forecast.
