Later FastCat petition - from Harriet Hadfield's 5 stories

First things first - I (Harriet Hadfield) need your help with a new petition I've just launched asking Wightlink to add a further evening crossing to its FastCat timetable. This is a vitally important link for Islanders with the mainland and the petition asks for a very simple and achievable aim - later sailings on the FastCat - in both directions.

Currently, the last crossing from the mainland is the 8:20pm departure - with check-in required just after 8pm to guarantee your ticket. This means, for example, an Islander who travels to London for a day needs to leave Waterloo Station on the 6pm train to catch the last FastCat crossing. Any later and the only option is to wait for the 10:15pm car ferry sailing - which has many drawbacks: a much longer crossing time; an unsafe walk at night through Portsmouth from the train station; and a different port of arrival to where you left the Island in the morning.

Please do sign the petition here, share with everyone you know and add any comments or anecdotes you think constructively support our argument.
