Royal Thames 250th Regatta: Mermaids Fly to Cowes in Perfect Conditions

The Royal Thames 250th Regatta launched today for the Mermaid fleet, with nine Mermaids representing Sea View Yacht Club passaging to Cowes. Helms for this years campaign are: Jimbo Mitchell, Raymond Simonds, Guy Lawrence, Richard Rivlin, Charles Youngman, Adele Carritt, Colin Simonds, Ben Few Brown/David Hunter, and Anna Cockell.
A decent easterly wind carried the fleet swiftly from Seaview to Cowes in tonights passage race—arguably the best weather well see all regatta, with stormy conditions in the forecast for the days ahead. Jimbo Mitchell, with crew Phil French and Matt Glasgow, took the win.
The Mermaids will race twice daily for the next four days, with a return passage race on Sunday. Follow all results at racing.royalthames.com.
