As the scale and reach of our sailing activity at Sea View Yacht Club continues to grow, we are creating a new Sailing Programme Support Officer role to strengthen the administrative and operational support behind our Sailing Training Department and the Seaview Schools Sailing Programme.

This position will be a core part of the team delivering our award-winning training, with a particular focus on programmes that work directly with children and young people, both within the Club and through the Seaview Schools Sailing Programme. The role will support our instructors, help coordinate staff and learners, and ensure that training and school activity is organised, safe and professionally delivered throughout the season.

As our sailing operation has expanded in recent years, it has become increasingly important to strengthen the support behind the scenes. This new role reflects the Clubs continued evolution and will play an important part in ensuring our programmes run smoothly while widening access to sailing for young people across the Island.

The Sailing Programme Support Officer will provide administrative and operational support across both the Clubs Sailing Training Department and the Seaview Schools Sailing Programme, working closely with the Director of Sailing, the Club Secretary and the Trustees of the Schools Sailing Trust. It is a varied, people-focused position, combining office-based coordination with frontline support during the sailing season.

The role is offered on a flexible, part-time, annualised-hours basis, increasing during the summer months. Sailing or watersports experience is helpful but not essential; strong organisational skills, professionalism and a positive, supportive approach are what matter most.

I am keen that members consider whether there may be someone within our membership or local community who would be well suited to this role and interested in making a meaningful contribution to the Clubs continued development.

For further information or to request the full job specification, please contact James Crofts, Club Secretary, at secretary@svyc.org.uk.

James Mitchell
Rear Commodore of Sailing
