RYA Dinghy Senior Instructor Course
The Senior Instructor is a manager as well as an experienced Instructor, so the course focuses heavily on your ability to brief and debrief Instructors on the sessions run throughout the 4 days. You will be asked to deliver a lecture or two as well as run and assist on at least four sessions afloat. You still need to be able to sail too!
This is for experienced instructors who wish to take the next step up to managing other instructors. You have to be recommended to take part in this course by your centre principal. You will also need to do some homework as you are expected to roll up on day 1 with a completed SI Workbook
Fleet management is also an important skill, with an RYA Senior Instructor Certificate you are able to be the Chief Instructor of any RYA Training Centre. Skills like these will obviously help you to stand out from the crowd on your CV later in life.
Please Note: - You must also hold RYA Safety Boat, SRC, a valid First Aid certificate and the RYA Safe & Fun Course completion certificate. Other pre-requisites are 2 seasons teaching logged, and be over 18. Sailing ability is not directly assessed on this course however those whose standard is too low will not pass!!!!!!!!!
