Guest Speaker & Topic
Tim Wander Island Historian & Author
For over 150 years, Bembridge Fort sat high on Culver Down, largely hidden from public view and shrouded in secrecy. Built in the 1860s to defend against invasion, it later became one of the most sensitive military sites in Britain, playing a crucial role during the Second World War and beyond.
Now, following a landmark agreement between the National Trust and the Bembridge Fort Trust, the fort is entering a remarkable new chapter.
In this Fireside Chat, Tim Wander — Director and Project Manager of the Bembridge Fort Trust — will explore the forts extraordinary past, reveal how it is being brought back to life, and share what lies ahead for one of the Islands most dramatic and mysterious landmarks.
