RYA Dinghy Instructor Course

23rd - 27 June
1757305 1024xdne

All of our Dinghy Instructor Courses are 5 days long.  Each course starts immediately after a  Pre-entry Sailing Assessment Day run by an RYA Dinghy Trainer using either an RS Vision, Pico or Laser.

When booking you can book for both Pre-entry and DI Course together or you can book separately, this is because it is advised to take the pre-entry a little while before the DI course if possible.

The Instructor Course demands a high standard, and is therefore an intensive week involving some evening work. Successful candidates will be qualified to work in RYA dinghy schools world-wide. The course covers the RYA method, teaching techniques and each student will run a practical session and give a presentation. We will cover basic racing tuition and those with suitable experience may also qualify as RYA Racing Instructors.

The Course is run using the Clubs fleet of dinghies and you will be expected to be able to sail any of the following classes of boat:

Optimist, Topper, RS Tera, Pico, Laser 4.7, RS Feva, RS Vision, Topper Buzz, Dart 16.

If you dont have experience of any of these craft we suggest that you contact the office to arrange a trial or some private lessons.

Please note a minimum of 11 knots of wind is required for the pre-entry assessment, if you would like to use a different class of dinghy for the Pre-entry test please contact Jon Curtis. Minimum age 16, but open to adults too. The pre-entry assessment remains valid for one year only.
