Adult Week / Family Week - Training Week 3
Week 3: Adult Week / Family Week
More than just Adult or Family Week—build your own sailing journey with flexible pathways, social events, and tailored coaching for every sailor.
Course Overview
Our third week blends two parallel programmes:
- Adult Week (18+) running from the Clubhouse
- Family Week (ages 8+) running from the Training Centre
Whether stepping into a boat for the first time or returning to polish skills, the week combines structured RYA training with a strong social side. Expect relaxed evening meals, friendly atmosphere, and a celebratory prizegiving to round things off—coordinated with care by Noel Dobbs.
Training Pathways
Adults and families can work toward:
- RYA Dinghy qualifications
- RYA Keelboat qualifications
- RYA Multihull certificates
- SVYC class-specific awards
Coaching is tailored to experience; sailors with prior time on the water are encouraged to try a new class to broaden skills and enjoy a fresh challenge.
Crewing & Grouping
- Mermaid crews are matched carefully by ability and friendship—just fill in the booking form fully or contact the training team.
- Children and families are grouped by age, skill and social fit to maximise both learning and fun.
Volunteer Opportunities
Adult Mermaid & SVOD sessions are supported by dedicated volunteer instructors. Mermaid A helms wishing to contribute can train toward RYA Keelboat Instructor certification with club support.
Flexible Options (Mon-Fri)
Sprits for younger siblings (6 and 7), 1-2-1 lessons, and small-group coaching sessions run alongside the main programme.
Booking Notes
