Powerboat Level 1, Powerboat Level 2 or Direct Entry Assessment

Powerboat Level 1
1 day course (available on the first day of a Powerboat Level 2 weekend) for any member from age 8 upwards concentrating on basic boat handling and safety. SVYC encourage under 16s to take these courses to ensure the waters around the Club are a safer place to be for all water users. The Course normally uses the Club's RIBs, but if you wish to use your own boat then please contact the Training Team. The ratio is three students to one Instructor per boat. Included in the Course Fee is the RYA Powerboat Logbook G2.
Powerboat Level 2
2 day course concentrating on boat handling and safety. In line with RYA guidelines, we encourage under 16s to learn correct powerboating techniques. Level 2 is available for any member from age 12 upwards, you do not have to complete Level 1 before attending this course. The Course normally uses the Club's RIBs, but if you wish to use your own boat then please contact the Training Team. The ratio is three students to one Instructor per boat. Included in the Course Fee is the RYA Powerboat Logbook G20. Success in the assessment on day two will earn candidates either the Powerboat Level 1 or 2 Certificate depending on ability.
Powerboat Level 2 Direct Entry Assessment
2 hour test for experienced Powerboaters who haven't taken a course, uses test set out in RYA Powerboat Logbook G20. Success in the assessment will earn candidate the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certificate & allow them to also apply to the RYA for an ICC Power should they wish to.
