RYA First Aid - Covering emergency resuscitation and basic First Aid with an emphasis on watersports. This is the minimum First Aid qualification required for any RYA Instructor qualification. The certificate lasts for three years, after which time it expires and so do all of your other qualifications!  Priority will therefore be given to Members working as Safety Boat Drivers, Instructors or Boatmen and those attending RYA Instructor, Yachting or Advanced Powerboat Courses.   Required by Instructors, Safety Boat Drivers & Boatmen updating qualifications.

Club Race Officer. Tailored to our starting procedures, race courses and the fleets we sail here at the Club. 

This course is intended for Members who would like to act as Race Officer or Deck Assistant at the Club or on the Committee Boat. The emphasis is on ensuring that the correct visual and sound signals are made at the right time and for the right reason.

It covers the RYA Syllabus but in a way that applies to Seaview.

Essential Navigation - identical to the e-learning course but totally classroom based at SVYC this two-day Course provides an introduction to chart work, collision regulations and meteorology. No previous knowledge required. It is totally classroom based. Included in the Course Fee is your RYA Student Pack, with practice charts, navigation tables, course notes, dividers and an RYA plotter. 

Or take the next step for chart work, collision regulations and meteorology. Day Skipper assumes limited previous knowledge. It is for those who will attend a Day Skipper Practical or Advanced Powerboat Course and is totally classroom based. Coastal Skipper takes you on a step further to the standard required for Yachtmaster entry. Included in the Course Fee is your RYA Student Pack, with practice charts, navigation tables and course notes. 

SRC (VHF) Now a two-day classroom course + exam, or an online course + classroom exam, training you how to operate a VHF Radio under the GMDSS system. The SRC qualification is a legal requirement to operate a marine VHF Radio. The RYA VHF Radio Publication SRCP1 is included in your course fee.
