RYA Dinghy Instructor Course

11th - 16 July 2022

All of our Dinghy Instructor Courses are 5 days long following on from the Pre-entry Sailing Assessment Day, this is run by an RYA Dinghy Trainer in an RS Vision, Pico and Laser. 

The Instructor Course demands a high standard, and is therefore an intensive week involving some evening work. Successful candidates will be qualified to work in RYA dinghy schools world-wide. The course covers the RYA method, teaching techniques and each student will run a practical session and give a presentation. We will cover basic racing tuition and those with suitable experience may also qualify as RYA Racing Instructors.

The Course is run using the Clubs fleet of dinghies and you will be expected to be able to sail any of the following classes of boat:

Optimist, Topper, RS Tera, Pico, Laser 4.7, RS Feva, RS Vision, Topper Buzz, Dart 16.

If you dont have experience of any of these craft we suggest that you contact the office to arrange a trial or some private lessons.

If you would prefer to use a different class of dinghy for this test please contact Jon Curtis. Minimum age 16, but open to adults. Please note a minimum of 11 knots of wind is required for the assessment.

Please note that Prior to an Instructor Course candidates must attain the following:

RYA Membership, Pre-Entry Assessment, RYA Powerboat Level 2, First Aid Certificate, RYA Safe & Fun, and be a Minimum age of 16.
