RYA Assistant Dinghy Instructor Course

The Assistant Instructor Course is a steppingstone to the Dinghy Instructor Course, this is for anyone wishing to assist with Instruction. It allows those Members not yet old enough (available from 13 year olds upwards) to formally instruct and learn the ropes assisting the fully qualified RYA Instructors with Instruction afloat. 

This 2 day course teaches the students how to teach the RYA Method, learning styles they will encounter and how to teach in a number of different styles to allow for this. Students need to be a minimum of RYA stage 4 to be able to attend this course. 

Students will also be taught about the Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Proceedures that the SVYC Training Department use. 

Successful Candidates will be entitled to wear the Instructor Green Shirt.

The Course is taught by an RYA Senior Instructor or higher and the students will be asked to sail in boats from the Club Fleet to demonstrate both their personal sailing ability and their ability to teach from within a boat.
