In a great example of people power, Nettlestone and Seaview hosted representatives from Southern Water for a public meeting on Tuesday - to find out more about the water companies plans to repair damaged outfall pipes and stop polluting our beaches and swimming waters with raw sewage. Frustratingly I couldn't make the meeting but our Island local democracy reporter Louise Hill was there and has written up the story for the local press - read in the CP here. Raymond Simonds, who organised the meeting along with Cllr Dave Adams, told me he felt positive about the pledges given - and that progress had been made. Describing his campaigning role as "like a full-time job", Raymond has worked on this for months - and it's great to see the profile and coverage of the problem being given real attention. Here's hoping for a summer of swimming in clean waters! From Harriet Hadfield's 5 stories. To read more pieces or subscribe, click here.
